چکیده

Feature Pattern Analysis (FPA), as a part of the theory of data (Coombs, 1964), can be interpreted as a formal model of some procedures frequently applied in the behavioral and social sciences, e.g., for Guttman scaling, Parallelogram Analysis, Likert scaling, the Semantic Differential, and the Kelly Grid. FPA may also be used as a scaling procedure for nominal and ordinal data with qualitative and quantitative attributes, and dichotomous as well as polytomous items. The categories of the latter may be orde-

Mixed Scoring on Polytomous IRS and the Application in Concepts Diagnosis for Fraction Subtraction

The purpose of this study is to provide the mixed scoring of polytomous item relational structure (PIRS) analysis and utilize it in fraction subtraction concepts diagnosis. There are limitations on dichotomous item relational structure (IRS) and PIRS analysis is well efficient in the analysis of polytomous data. Most utilization of IRS aims to analyze the hierarchical structures of items, not t...

Conditional Covariance Theory and DETECT for Polytomous Items

This paper extends the theory of conditional covariances to polytomous items. It has been mathematically proven that under some mild conditions, commonly assumed in the analysis of response data, the conditional covariance of two items, dichotomously or polytomously scored, is positive if the two items are dimensionally homogeneous and negative otherwise. The theory provides a theoretical found...

reat to the validity of a test. Both the APA (American Psychological Association) and the ITC (International Test Commission) standards emphasize the necessity of checking for DIF in order to guarantee the fair use of a test (AERA, APA, NCME, 1999; COPITC, 2000). With these recommendations in mind, and with the intention of spreading the application of DIF analyses, researchers should develop a...
